22Days- The best of Tanzania Safaris
Day 1: Dar es Salaam/Saadani National Park
Pick clients from the play of staying in Dar es Salaam and depart to Saadani National Park for lunch. After lunch you will have short game viewing drive in the park or relaxation at the beach. The park has the distinction of being the only coastal wildlife sanctuary of its kind on the eastern coast of Africa. It offers a completely unique safari environment, combining the river, bush and beach. The extraordinary Wami River forms the Southern boundary of the Park. From the open sea you can boat into the river mouth and within minutes you are passing pods of hippo and basking crocodiles. The entire eastern boundary of the park is set along the Indian Ocean where white beaches stretch to the horizon in both directions, and sand islands offshore provide snorkeling and swimming. Dinner and overnight will be at lodge or campsite.
Day 2: Game Drive and foot-walking excursion
The day will be occupied with game drive in the morning and afternoon foot-walking safari or boat excursions to the Wami River, which offers probably the best boat safari in Tanzania; the river safari passes flocks of flamingo’s at the mouth of the estuary before entering the river with its abundant wildlife and profusion of bird life. Lunch will be at the bandas, with unique experience of tracking giraffe through prime bush before emerging onto a pristine beach. Dinner and overnight will be at lodge/campsite.
Day 3: Saadani National Park/Lushoto
In the morning at 0730hrs departs to Lushoto West Usambara where you will arrive in the early afternoon for lunch. Afternoon walk or drive to Irente viewpoint and Irente Farm. The farmers produce many types of fruits, which are sold in Arusha, Dar, Moshi and Morogoro. Dinner and overnight will be at hotel or campsite.
Day 4: Irente Viewpoint tour (4 to 6 hours)
Today we trek to this most famous viewpoint in the Usambara mountains is just an hour’s walk from Lushoto. From the viewpoint you see the village of Mazinde almost 1,000 meters below you. On the way back you pass the village of Irente juu, where you will visit the crossbreeding and soil conservation projects at Mr. Mwindadi’s hamlet. The trip can be extended with visits to a nearby waterfall and the viewpoints of Kambe and Kwa Mkeke. . Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge or campsite.
Day 5: Lushoto/Mkomazi
Morning after breakfast departs to Mkomazi National Park. Mkomazi is the focus of an intensive breeding program to save the endangered black rhinos. You will have a game drive to Mkomazi National Park and get time to see the fenced rhino as well as wild dogs. Mkomazi has its own unique appeal. The nearly extinct wild dogs have recently been introduced to the area, and the reserve does have a wide variety of indigenous snakes. The park is rich in wildlife and bird life with the beautiful view of the landscape of Pare Mountains. In the late afternoon you will drive out of the park to Elephant Motel for hot shower, dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Mkomazi/Marangu
After breakfast we depart towards Mount Kilimanjaro. After a drive of around 3 hours you will reach Marangu, a small friendly mountain town in a lush green surrounding. After lunch you will go on a walking tour at the foot of Kilimanjaro, if the day is clear you will be able to have nice view of Mount Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight will be at the hotel or campsite.
Day 7: Marangu /Lake Duluti
Today with your Chagga guide you visit the Chagga village, the Chagga people live in the magnificent foothills of the Kilimanjaro; a tribe rich in history, ingenuity and legends. On this day trip, you will not only learn about their folklore and history but also get to see the wondrous facets of their daily lives. Walk through fertile valleys with great waterfalls, densely planted coffee and banana plantations to panoramic viewpoints ideal for photographing Mount Kilimanjaro. You experience culture, traditions and daily life of the local Chagga people. Lunch will be in a local restaurant. In the afternoon transfer to Lake Duluti on the slope of Mount Meru for dinner and overnight at the hotel or campsite.
Day 8: Canoe on Lake Duluti/Longido Maasai Village
Today you will have canoe on Lake Duluti. This activity is perfect either early in the morning or late in the afternoon due to the high activity of wildlife around the lake. It is especially stunning in the late afternoon when the Cattle Egrets come on to the lake to roost for the evening. After your group pulls the last canoe to shore, a refreshing beverage will be served, allowing you the time to reflect on the beauty you have experienced. In the afternoon depart to Longido Mountains, the Maasai village 80 km north of Arusha for features an insight into the traditions of Maasai culture. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge or campsite
Day 9: Longido/Lake Natron
Today we have half day. Experience one of Africa’s most fascinating cultures, the Maasai. A cultural tour of Longido will give you the opportunity to experience traditional Maasai culture and interact with Maasai warriors and get some insight into traditional African culture. Maasai families live in small traditional Bomas scattered over the area. In the early morning, women leave the Boma to fetch water and collect firewood. At a very early age, young children play around mud houses and also begin to take care of the infants and animals. After lunch leave Longido to Lake Natron. Enjoy short evening walk at the lake Natron, the breeding base for East- Africa Flamingos. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge or campsite.
Day 10: Lake Natron
Today we will have full day explore around Lake Natron located on the north of Ngorongoro Crater Highlands and Southwest of Serengeti National Park. Lake Natron is one of the most alkaline Lakes in the world. Home to millions of tiny crustaceans, the Lake Natron is also a haven for literally thousands of lesser Flamingo’s and it is one of the most important breeding point of Flamingo on earth, Masai tribes and active volcano Mount Oldonyo Lengai. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge or Campsite.
Day 11: Lake Natron/Serengeti National Park
Early morning breakfast depart to the Great Serengeti National Park with lunch and game drives en route. Afternoon game drives in the park a home to lion, leopard, Elephant, Cheetah, Buffalo, Zebra, Wildebeest, Eland, Wild dog, Gazelles, Crocs and more. Lot of birds includes the Eurasia migrants. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge or campsite.
Day 12: Serengeti Full day
After breakfast, enjoy full day of game viewing in the vast Serengeti plains where you may encounter the migration consisting of over 2 million animals. They also attract the attention of predators like cheetah and hyena and you may be able to see a band of lion’s gang up for a hunt. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge or campsite.
Day 13: Serengeti /Ngorongoro Crater Rim
After breakfast morning game drive in Serengeti National Park with picnic lunch Later depart for Ngorongoro Crater Rim via pre historic site at Olduvai George, he site of Louis and Mary Leakey’s renowned archaeological discoveries. Their findings include some of the man’s earliest known ancestral remains. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge or campsite.
Day 14: Ngorongoro Crater Tour /Lake Eyasi (Home of Bushmens)
After breakfast, descends into the Crater floor for game viewing drive. Ngorongoro Crater is the largest collapsed volcanic crater in the world and fourteen kilometers of isolated natural beauty. There is a very high possibility of spotting the big 5 in one day: Rhinos, Elephants, Buffaloes, Lions, Leopards, Hippos, Flamingos, Jackals, Antelopes and many birds. The birds seen here include eagle, vulture, and flamingos in the Crater Lake, stork, bats, giant vulture, sacred ibis, kori bustard, blacksmith plover, long necked heron and the cattle eagle. Lunch will take place at the picnic site at the crater floor. Ascend to the rim and departure for Lake Eyasi the home of Bushmen and Datoga tribe for dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite.
Day 15: Lake Eyasi Hunting with Bushmen’s
Today we spend the morning hunting with the hadzabe until lunch, in the afternoon we visit a Datoga village. This pastoralist tribe was the barrier that stopped the southwards migration of the Masai. We visit a traditional village, entering a traditional homestead; learn about the women’s typical dress and scarification. We then walk with the herders. Sometimes a short walk is arranged on the beautiful lakeshore. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge or campsite.
Day 16 Lake Eyasi/Lake Manyara National Park
Morning after breakfast, with lunch box departs to Lake Manyara National Park for both morning and afternoon game viewing drives in the park. The park is home to Lion, Hippo, Elephant, Zebra, Buffalo, Giraffe, Baboon, Blue and Vervet monkey, Warthog, Impala and more. About 350 species of birds have been recorded. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge or campsite.
Day 17: Lake Manyara/Tarangire National Park
After breakfast transfer for about 45minutes with your packed lunch to Tarangire National Park for game viewing drive. The Tarangire is known as the park of Elephants and Baobabs as are scattered everywhere in the park while the Tarangire River is the centerpiece of this park, which is famous for some of the largest herds of elephants in Africa. Here you may see lion, leopard, giraffe, cheetah, lesser kudu, buffalo, Oryx, eland and zebra. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge or campsite.
Day 18: Tarangire/Zanzibar Island
Morning after breakfast game drive en route to Arusha Airport in time for your schedule flight to Zanzibar Island, on arrival in Zanzibar picked by our staff and transfer to North Coast Zanzibar (Nungwi). The beach is splendid the atmosphere always spiced up and the people on endless holiday mood. Nungwi is hectic and fun whilst Kendwa is a little more quiet and isolated. Overnight stay will be at Nungwi Inn Resort. Transfer to Julias Nyerere International Airport in time for your schedule flight back home.
Day 19 & 20: Beach leisure North Coast (Nungwi)
Spend the days enjoying beaches of North Coast and the Swahili way of living with optional sea sport activities which offer by the Resort. Nungwi is Zanzibar’s brilliant white beaches lapped by the warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean provide the perfect place to relax, soak up the sun and take a break from some busy sightseeing. The beaches are a paradise, interspersed with picturesque fishing villages, where the people live a simple way of life, unchanged over the years. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Nungwi Inn Resort.
Day 21: Stone Town Tour
Morning after breakfast, transfer to Stone Town with your guide goes for Stone Town walking tour. The best way of discovering Stone Town is to make a “City tour”. A local guide will show you all the remarkable places in town like the House of Wonders, the house of the biggest slave trader “Tippu Tip”, the Anglican Church of Christ and the Old Slave Market, the Central Market and of course the typical carved doors of Zanzibar. For a city trip you need at least 4 hours. Highly recommended! Dinner and overnight will be at Safari Lodge.
Day 22: Back Home
Morning after breakfast, transfer to the Airport in time for your schedule flight back home.
