4-Day Mount Meru Climb (Full Summit Trek)
The 4-Day Mount Meru Climb is a classic trek to the summit of Socialist Peak (4,566m) inside Arusha National Park, offering breathtaking scenery, diverse ecosystems, and a thrilling adventure.
Mount Meru is often called Kilimanjaro’s little brother, but it’s a stunning climb in its own right featuring wildlife encounters, lush forests, volcanic craters, and some of the best sunrise views in Africa.
It’s also the perfect acclimatization climb before taking on Mount Kilimanjaro.
4-Day Mount Meru Itinerary
Duration: 4 Days / 3 Nights

Day 1: Arusha – Momella Gate – Miriakamba Hut (2,514m)
After breakfast, you’ll be picked up from your hotel in Arusha and driven to Arusha National Park.
After completing park registration at Momella Gate (1,500m), you’ll begin your ascent through open grassland and forest — keep an eye out for zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, and warthogs.
You’ll stop for a picnic lunch en route before arriving at Miriakamba Hut, where dinner will be served.

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut (3,570m)
After breakfast, begin your trek through lush montane forest filled with colobus monkeys and exotic birds.
The trail gets steeper as you ascend towards Saddle Hut, located below Little Meru (3,820m).
Upon arrival, you can take a short acclimatization hike to Little Meru for panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Meru Crater.

Day 3: Saddle Hut – Socialist Peak (4,566m) – Miriakamba Hut
Your summit attempt starts around midnight.
You’ll climb along a narrow ridge, passing Rhin Point (3,800m) before reaching Socialist Peak (4,566m) in time to witness an unforgettable sunrise over Mount Kilimanjaro.
After celebrating your summit success, descend carefully to Saddle Hut for breakfast, rest, and then continue down to Miriakamba Hut for your final night on the mountain.

Day 4: Miriakamba Hut – Momella Gate – Arusha
After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely descent through forest and savannah back to Momella Gate, where your driver will be waiting to transfer you to Arusha.
On your way down, you may spot more wildlife — giraffes, buffaloes, and monkeys.
